Latin Courses

The Henle Latin curriculum is a traditional, grammar-first program originally developed for high school students and still widely used in classical education settings. It emphasizes memorization, translation, and mastery of Latin forms, with a strong focus on Latin as a tool for developing logical thinking and precision in language. At The Classics Lab, we complement this rigorous grammar foundation by incorporating short Latin readings that allow students to apply and reinforce the structures they’re learning in a meaningful context.

The Cambridge Latin Course takes a reading-based approach to Latin, immersing students in engaging stories set in the Roman world while gradually introducing grammar and vocabulary in context. At The Classics Lab, we supplement this reading approach with focused grammar instruction to ensure students build both fluency and a strong foundation in Latin structure.

The Minimus Latin curriculum is a lively, story-based introduction to Latin designed for younger students, combining language learning with Roman history, culture, and mythology. At The Classics Lab, we use Minimus to build vocabulary, introduce basic grammar, and spark curiosity through engaging characters, colorful illustrations, and hands-on activities.

The Latin Forms curriculum by Memoria Press is a grammar-focused series designed for students (typically grades 5–8) to master Latin through a structured, step-by-step approach that emphasizes forms, vocabulary, and carefully sequenced grammar lessons. At The Classics Lab, we complement this rigorous grammar foundation by incorporating short Latin readings that allow students to apply and reinforce the structures they’re learning in a meaningful context.
